Affiliated Groups

SPC is the only borough wide organisation in Southwark working to promote the independence and well-being of older people. As well as providing services and arranging some activities and events ourselves, we work in partnership with other older peoples groups across the borough (including faith-based and cultural groups and those that relate to specific geographical areas) to support opportunities for older people to have active and interesting lives that keep them physically and mentally well into a happy and healthy old age.

Groups that affiliate to SPC (annual affiliation fee is currently £25) benefit from concessionary room hire charges; office services; support from our Community Development Officer; invitation to attend quarterly 'Groups and Clubs' meetings; access to information held by SPC about the issues that affect the lives of older people and social, cultural, training and other opportunities that contribute to a good quality of life in older age. SPC has recently established an Consultative Committee of affiliated and other local older people's organisations which will meet regularly with the Board and will enable SPC to strengthen its consultation and communication links on older people's issues.
