Reaching Out

Reaching Out builds upon, creating and supporting networks of smaller community groups, widening access sharing information, resources and capacity for improved cost efficiencies and effectiveness at a local level.

We plan to work with existing community groups to offer outreach advice and energy talks and training, advice, benefits MOTs, energy MOTs and winter warmers face to face with older people to support them and raise awareness about SPC and other local organisations who can help.

Benefits MOTs

Our advice, information and guidance team will support you to do a quick benefits check to see if you are receiving everything possible.

Energy MOTs

We check that you are paying as little as possible for your energy costs, that you are benefiting from any energy discounts and grants and that you are on the energy register in case of an energy shutdown. We can also refer you to other organisations for an overall energy assessment of your home to help you reduce your energy costs.

Winter Warmers

Our winter warmer events bring you in from the cold to a nice cosy social with friendly folk, a quiz, music or singing, warm food and mulled wine with a chat about what you do to stay well in winter.

Techy Teas

Bring your mobile phone, laptop, tablet or ipad and over free tea and cake, we will help you to make the most of your device and deal with any particular challenges. Watch out for details of forthcoming events. Ipads are available for use during the Techy Tea session if you don’t have one.

Health and Wellbeing Activities at Local Level

We are happy to work with local groups to help you source activities, tutors, or hold fairs so that people in your local area can find out about local activities targeted at older people. We are willing to share our knowledge about what works to help you design what will work best for you.
